Companion Retrievers is a small, family-owned breeder specializing in an exceptional line of English Labrador puppies. Our goal is to keep our Richmond, Minnesota, kennel operation on the smaller side to provide you with the best dogs possible. We breed the three AKC-recognized colors of Labrador Retrievers, including black, chocolate, and shades of yellow ranging from creamy white to dark golden.

Faithful Family Friends
Friendly and gentle, English Labrador puppies are wonderful pets for any family and especially those with children. Our sweet, wiggly puppies are socialized with people and animals from a young age, dewormed and vaccinated, and we even work on potty training to ensure they’re well-adjusted before heading to their forever families.

We’re passionate about providing people who have disabilities with the much-needed physical and emotional support a Labrador Retriever service dog can provide. We offer a discount to anyone with a disability who would benefit from the companionship of a support dog.

There’s a reason the English Lab is a highly preferred hunting dog. Labrador Retrievers are eager to please, quick to understand and follow commands, and they have a strong retrieval instinct, making them great partners on hunting trips. These highly adaptable and loyal dogs also transition from the field to home life very well.

We only breed dogs that meet our high standards of excellence. Our sweet sires (males) and devoted dams (females) carry prominent bloodlines that result in a beautiful balance between a calm and loving companion and the potential to be an outstanding personal hunting dog or service/therapy dog. They have the classic heavy bone structure and blocky heads that English Labs are recognized for.
We believe the time, love, attention, and research we put into our dogs, our kennel operation, and our breeding program show up as excellence in all of our puppies.

Hi! We’re Elmer and Julie Braegelmann, owners and operators of Companion Retrievers, a small, family-run kennel that is devoted to breeding Labrador Retrievers with heavy English attributes and exceptional temperaments. Providing English Labs with excellent bloodlines is important to us, of course, but our first priority is always the health and temperament of our dogs. No other breed has a disposition quite as sweet and agreeable as the English Labrador Retriever.
